CCI Network Services: Custom Managed Network & Telecom Solutions
CCI Network Services provides managed network, cloud, and voice solutions for enterprises, specializing in custom-engineered global connectivity and SD-WAN.
Overview
Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, CCI Network Services is a premier managed services provider (MSP) specializing in the design, procurement, and management of complex enterprise communications. CCI serves as a strategic partner for mid-market and large-scale enterprises that require global connectivity, cloud integration, and unified communications but seek to avoid the administrative burden of managing multiple disparate carriers.
The company’s core portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum of telecommunications and IT infrastructure services, including SD-WAN, Global SIP Trunking, Hosted Voice (UCaaS), Managed Security, and high-speed Dedicated Internet Access (DIA). CCI has established a significant market presence by acting as a sophisticated "aggregator and integrator," sitting between the client and the world’s largest telecommunications backbones.
Historically, CCI has focused on serving industries with high-uptime requirements and distributed footprints, such as retail, healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. Their business focus is centered on simplifying the "Global WAN," providing a single-pane-of-glass management experience for organizations that operate across multiple regions and countries. By leveraging their extensive network of over 100 carrier partnerships, CCI provides a comprehensive lifecycle management approach—from initial circuit design and contract negotiation to 24/7 proactive monitoring and technical support. This allows internal IT teams to pivot away from troubleshooting connectivity issues and toward high-value strategic initiatives.
Positioning
CCI Network Services positions itself as the "Enterprise Advocate" in a crowded and often fragmented telecommunications marketplace. Their strategic positioning is built on the premise that enterprise IT leaders are overwhelmed by the complexity of managing global digital transformation. While major carriers position themselves based on the size of their own fiber footprints, CCI positions itself based on its ability to orchestrate the entire market on behalf of the client.
Their messaging focuses on three core pillars:
- The Power of Choice: Positioning themselves as the antidote to "carrier lock-in" by providing access to a global ecosystem of providers.
- Technical Excellence: Moving beyond the "broker" label by emphasizing their engineering-led approach and hands-on NOC support.
- Operational Simplicity: Branding their services as a way to "de-risk" global expansion and simplify the billing and support of complex network stacks.
In the competitive landscape, CCI sits between the massive, slow-moving Tier 1 carriers and the smaller, regional boutique ISPs. They differentiate from competitors by offering "Global Reach with Local Accountability." Their brand voice is professional, reliable, and deeply technical, appealing to CIOs and Network Architects who value precision and accountability over generic marketing promises. This positioning allows them to compete effectively against larger incumbents by highlighting their superior responsiveness and customized solution architecture.
Differentiation
The uniqueness of CCI’s product portfolio lies in its "Aggregated Managed Services" framework. Rather than offering off-the-shelf connectivity, CCI engineers bespoke hybrid networks that blend diverse technologies—such as SD-WAN, MPLS, and Direct Cloud Connect—into a single, cohesive infrastructure. This allows for superior redundancy and performance optimization that single-carrier solutions cannot match.
Key technical advantages include:
- Carrier-Agnostic SD-WAN: CCI leverages industry-leading platforms (such as VMware SASE or Versa) but enhances them with their proprietary management layer, providing deeper visibility into application performance across disparate circuits.
- Global SIP Trunking & Voice: Their voice solutions are designed for high-availability enterprise environments, offering seamless integration with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and legacy PBX systems through a robust global gateway architecture.
- Real-time Monitoring & Proactive Remediation: Their Network Operations Center (NOC) utilizes advanced AI-driven analytics to identify and resolve circuit degradations before they impact the end-user experience.
- Consolidated Billing and Management: CCI simplifies global operations by consolidating multiple international circuits and services into a single portal and a single invoice, reducing administrative overhead for IT departments.
By focusing on the "middle mile" and the complexity of global peering, CCI’s products provide a level of deterministic performance that is often lost in standard internet-based VPNs or basic carrier packages.

- Monthly Recurring Charges (MRC): Based on circuit bandwidth, SD-WAN licensing, and management tiers. This is the primary cost driver.
- Non-Recurring Charges (NRC): Includes installation fees, hardware procurement (if not leased), and initial engineering/setup fees.
- Tiered Management Levels: Pricing varies based on the level of management required (e.g., monitoring only vs. fully managed configuration and change management).
- Contract Terms: Typically 36 to 60-month terms, with deeper discounts available for longer commitments and higher site volumes.
- No Hidden Aggregation Fees: CCI generally provides transparent pricing where the value of their management is built into the competitive circuit rates they negotiate.
Technical Requirements
The technical requirements for a CCI deployment include:
- On-Premise Equipment Space: Adequate rack space, cooling, and power (AC or DC) for routers, SD-WAN appliances, and hand-off equipment.
- Cabling Infrastructure: Cat6 or Fiber internal wiring from the MPOE (Minimum Point of Entry) to the server room/IDF.
- Existing IP Schema: Coordination of IP addressing (IPv4/IPv6) to ensure no conflicts during the integration of new managed circuits.
- Firewall Compatibility: If not using a CCI-managed security solution, the customer’s existing firewalls must support the hand-off protocols (typically Ethernet) and any necessary VPN terminations.
- Out-of-Band (OOB) Management: While CCI provides management, having an OOB path (like a dedicated LTE modem) is recommended for remote troubleshooting of primary links.
Business Requirements
To successfully partner with CCI Network Services, organizations should meet the following business prerequisites:
- Stakeholder Alignment: Buy-in from both IT and Finance is critical, as the solution often involves consolidating disparate budgets and shifting from a decentralized to a centralized procurement model.
- Process Readiness: Organizations must be prepared to transition their internal support workflows. Instead of calling local ISPs, internal help desks will need to be trained to route network issues through CCI’s centralized support channel.
- Inventory Documentation: A clear understanding of existing circuit locations, contract expiration dates, and current bandwidth utilization will significantly accelerate the discovery and design phase.
- Dedicated Project Lead: While CCI manages the heavy lifting, a designated internal lead is needed to coordinate site access, local contact information, and internal firewall/security policy approvals.
Implementation Timeline
A typical implementation with CCI follows these phases:
- Phase 1: Discovery & Design (2-4 Weeks): Detailed audit of existing infrastructure, site visits (if necessary), and engineering of the custom network topology.
- Phase 2: Procurement & Provisioning (4-12 Weeks): This varies significantly based on the underlying carriers and local loop availability. Fiber builds can extend this timeline, while broadband or LTE can be faster.
- Phase 3: Hardware Deployment & Configuration (2-3 Weeks): Staging of SD-WAN edge devices or routers and shipping to sites.
- Phase 4: Migration & Go-Live (Variable): Phased cutover of sites to the new network. This is often done in batches (e.g., 5-10 sites per week) to ensure stability.
- Phase 5: Optimization (Ongoing): Post-implementation review and tuning of traffic shaping and security policies.
Support Options
CCI distinguishes itself through a high-touch support model:
- Tiered NOC Support: Access to Tier 1 through Tier 3 engineers. CCI emphasizes "no-hold" or rapid-response times for critical outages.
- Dedicated Account Management: Every enterprise client is assigned a dedicated Account Manager and Project Manager for the duration of the relationship.
- Proactive Monitoring: CCI’s systems often detect and ticket circuit issues before the customer is even aware of a problem.
