Streamline Enterprise Workflows with Clear Software Solutions
Clear Software provides a cloud-based platform that streamlines complex enterprise workflows by consolidating disparate systems into a single, intuitive interface.
Overview
Clear Software is a technology company specializing in business process management and automation software designed to simplify the complexity of enterprise computing. Founded with the goal of solving the "fragmented desktop" problem, the company provides a platform that allows organizations to consolidate multiple, disparate enterprise applications into a single, streamlined user interface.
The company primarily serves large enterprises that rely on complex, mission-critical systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and Salesforce. By providing a layer of abstraction over these systems, Clear Software enables employees to execute complex business processes—such as supply chain management, financial reporting, and customer service—through a simplified and intuitive workflow.
Historically, Clear Software has positioned itself as a critical bridge for digital transformation. Their market presence is strongest in industries with heavy operational complexity, including manufacturing, retail, and logistics. In 2021, Clear Software was acquired by Microsoft, a move that integrated their robust process automation and integration capabilities into the Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem. This acquisition has expanded their reach, allowing their technology to serve as a cornerstone for organizations looking to enhance their robotic process automation (RPA) and low-code development strategies within the Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
Positioning
Clear Software positions itself as the "operating system for business processes." Their strategic messaging focuses on the elimination of "swivel-chair automation"—the manual process of moving data between different software applications. They target the mid-to-large enterprise segment, specifically focusing on COOs and CIOs who are struggling with low employee productivity and high training costs associated with legacy software.
In terms of competitive positioning, Clear Software sits at the intersection of three markets: Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and Low-Code Development. They differentiate themselves from pure-play RPA vendors by arguing that "fixing the interface" is more sustainable than "bot-tasking" a broken process. Their brand positioning emphasizes simplicity, speed, and the empowerment of the "citizen developer," promising that business users can design their own workflows without deep technical expertise. Since the Microsoft acquisition, their positioning has shifted to highlight their role in the "Power Automate" story, emphasizing their unique ability to unlock legacy ERP data for modern cloud applications.
Differentiation
The flagship product, ClearProcess, differentiates itself through its ability to act as a unified "glass pane" across legacy systems, modern SaaS applications, and custom databases. Unlike traditional Business Process Management (BPM) tools that require heavy coding, Clear Software offers a low-code environment specifically optimized for complex ERP environments like SAP, Oracle, and Salesforce.
Key technical advantages include:
- Unified User Interface: It abstracts the complexity of underlying systems, allowing users to complete tasks (like "Order-to-Cash") without ever logging into the native, often cumbersome, ERP screens.
- Deep Integration Layer: It features pre-built connectors that handle the intricate business logic of legacy systems, ensuring data integrity across all platforms.
- Intelligent Automation: Beyond simple integration, the platform automates repetitive tasks within the workflow, reducing manual data entry and error rates.
- Rapid Deployment: Because it sits on top of existing systems rather than replacing them, organizations can modernize their user experience in weeks rather than the years typically required for a full ERP migration.
Ideal Customer Profile
- Company Size: Mid-market to large Global 2000 enterprises.
- Industry: Particularly strong in Manufacturing, Logistics, Energy, Financial Services, and Retail.
- Technical Environment: Organizations running heavy, complex ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics) that are difficult to customize or upgrade.
- Pain Point: High operational costs due to manual data entry, complex 'swivel-chair' workflows, and low employee satisfaction with legacy software.

Best Fit
- Complex ERP Modernization: When a business needs to simplify the user experience of legacy SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics environments without a full 'rip-and-replace.'
- High-Volume Transactional Workflows: Ideal for organizations where employees lose hours switching between multiple screens to complete a single task (e.g., order-to-cash or procure-to-pay).
- M&A Integration: When a company acquires another and needs to unify disparate back-office systems under a single, simplified interface quickly.
- Citizen Development Initiatives: For IT departments looking to empower business analysts to build process automations using low-code tools rather than deep backend coding.
Offerings
- ClearWork Platform: The flagship UI/UX layer designed to simplify complex enterprise software into intuitive, logic-driven web pages.
- ClearProcess Engine: The backend orchestration layer that handles the 'heavy lifting' of data movement and business logic between systems.
- ClearBlocks Library: A library of pre-built integration templates for common ERP functions (e.g., SAP BAPIs, Oracle APIs) to jumpstart implementation.
