Conceal: Stop Web-Based Ransomware and Credential Theft
Conceal provides a patented browser security platform that uses intelligent isolation to protect organizations from web-based threats and social engineering.
Overview
Conceal is a cybersecurity company that specializes in protecting organizations from the most common and damaging entry point for cyberattacks: the web browser. Headquartered in Augusta, Georgia—a hub for national cybersecurity excellence—Conceal has established itself as a leader in "Zero Trust" browser security. The company’s primary mission is to stop ransomware, data breaches, and credential theft by isolating malicious web content before it ever reaches a user's device.
The company’s flagship product, ConcealBrowse, is a patented technology that transforms any existing web browser into a secure environment. It sits at the intersection of Secure Web Gateway (SWG) and Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) technologies, offering a more efficient and user-friendly alternative to traditional methods. Conceal serves a diverse range of clients, from small businesses to large enterprises and government entities, all of whom face the increasing threat of social engineering and sophisticated web-based attacks.
Conceal was founded with a focus on addressing the vulnerabilities inherent in human-centric computing. As organizations have moved to the cloud and adopted SaaS-heavy workflows, the browser has become the "new desktop," and consequently, the primary attack surface. Conceal’s market presence has grown rapidly due to its ability to provide high-level security without the administrative overhead or performance degradation typically associated with enterprise security tools. Their focus is on providing a proactive layer of defense that complements existing security stacks by neutralizing threats at the edge of the network.
Positioning
Conceal positions itself as the "last mile" of enterprise security, specifically targeting the gap left by traditional endpoint protection (EPP) and secure web gateways. Their messaging focuses on the concept of "Intelligent Isolation," a strategic middle ground between doing nothing and isolating everything. This positioning is designed to appeal to CISOs who are frustrated with the high cost and complexity of legacy isolation vendors but are equally concerned about the rising tide of sophisticated phishing and "living off the land" attacks.
Market-wise, Conceal targets organizations that are "browser-first," including those with remote or hybrid workforces where traditional perimeter defenses are less effective. They differentiate themselves from competitors like Zscaler or Broadcom by emphasizing "Zero-Friction" security. While competitors often sell massive, all-encompassing SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) platforms, Conceal positions itself as a specialized, easily integrated solution that provides immediate ROI by reducing the volume of alerts that security operations center (SOC) teams must investigate.
Their brand positioning is built on the pillars of speed, simplicity, and invisibility. They communicate a clear value proposition: stopping the threats that others miss—specifically those that rely on human error—without changing the way users work. By positioning their technology as an "extension" rather than a "replacement," they lower the barrier to entry for organizations looking to modernize their security posture in an increasingly web-centric world.
Differentiation
The core differentiator of Conceal’s product suite, specifically ConcealBrowse, is its use of a patented "pre-filter" technology that dynamically decides which web sessions require isolation. While traditional Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) solutions are often criticized for high latency, significant bandwidth consumption, and a poor user experience, Conceal utilizes a lightweight agent that operates within any production browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc.).
Key product differentiators include:
- Dynamic Decision Engine: Instead of isolating all traffic or relying on static blocklists, Conceal analyzes the risk of every URL in real-time. If a site is deemed suspicious or unknown, it is automatically routed through a secure, isolated environment.
- Transparent User Experience: Because the isolation happens selectively and at the edge, users do not experience the "lag" or broken website functionality common with legacy isolation tools. It feels like a native browsing experience.
- Social Engineering Defense: Conceal is specifically engineered to combat sophisticated phishing and credential theft. By isolating the session, it prevents malicious code from reaching the endpoint and blocks the exfiltration of sensitive data.
- Deployment Velocity: The product can be deployed via a simple browser extension across an entire enterprise in minutes, integrating seamlessly with existing identity providers (IdP) and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
- Intelligence Integration: The platform leverages a sophisticated telemetry engine that provides security teams with deep visibility into risky user behaviors and web-based threats that bypass traditional email and network security layers.
Ideal Customer Profile
The ideal customer for Conceal is an organization that prioritizes proactive security and has a highly web-dependent workforce.
- Company Size: Mid-market (500+ employees) to large Enterprises (10,000+ employees).
- Industry: Highly regulated sectors such as Finance, Healthcare, Government, Legal, and Critical Infrastructure.
- Technical Maturity: Organizations that have moved beyond basic antivirus and are looking for "Zero Trust" at the application/browser layer.
- Team Composition: A dedicated IT or Security team (managed or in-house) capable of deploying browser extensions and reviewing security telemetry.
- Budget: Companies with a dedicated security budget who value the reduction of "Mean Time to Respond" (MTTR) and insurance premium savings.
Best Fit
Conceal excels in the following scenarios:
- High-Risk Remote/Hybrid Workforces: When employees access sensitive corporate data from unmanaged networks or personal devices, Conceal provides a secure "buffer" that prevents malicious code from ever reaching the local machine.
- Protection Against Zero-Hour Phishing: Organizations struggling with traditional email filters find Conceal’s real-time site analysis invaluable, as it can detect and isolate credential harvesting sites before they are officially blacklisted.
- Legacy System Access: For companies that must access older, potentially vulnerable web applications, Conceal provides a way to interact with these tools without exposing the primary browser environment to risk.
- Reducing SOC Alert Fatigue: By stopping web-based threats at the edge through isolation, Conceal significantly reduces the volume of malware-related alerts that security teams must investigate.
