DaSTOR: Scalable Hybrid Cloud and Enterprise Data Center Solutions
DaSTOR provides enterprise-grade colocation, cloud, and disaster recovery solutions for mid-market and enterprise clients seeking flexible, regional infrastructure.
Overview
DaSTOR is an enterprise-grade infrastructure provider specializing in colocation, private cloud, and disaster recovery services. Headquartered in the Mid-Atlantic region, the company has established a significant market presence by acquiring and modernizing strategic data center assets. DaSTOR serves a diverse clientele ranging from mid-market enterprises to large-scale organizations in the healthcare, financial services, and government sectors.
The company’s core mission is to provide a reliable, scalable, and secure foundation for digital transformation. Their service portfolio is built around three main pillars:
- Colocation: Providing secure, climate-controlled space, power, and bandwidth for client-owned hardware, with options ranging from single cabinets to private suites.
- Cloud Services: Offering private and hybrid cloud environments that allow for greater control, security, and predictable cost structures compared to pure public cloud plays.
- Connectivity & Continuity: Delivering high-speed interconnection services and comprehensive data protection strategies to ensure that client applications remain highly available.
DaSTOR was founded by industry veterans who recognized a gap in the market for regional data center providers that could offer the sophistication of a national brand with the personalized service of a local partner. Since its inception, the company has focused on a growth strategy of acquiring facilities in key underserved or high-demand markets, upgrading their power and cooling infrastructure, and integrating them into a unified, high-performance network. This allows DaSTOR to offer a "best of both worlds" scenario: the physical proximity required for low-latency edge computing and the robust compliance and security frameworks required by modern enterprise standards.
Positioning
DaSTOR positions itself as the "Strategic Alternative" to both the massive, impersonal hyperscale data centers and the aging, under-capitalized local providers. Their market positioning is centered on the concept of "Right-Sized Infrastructure"—providing exactly the scale and sophistication an enterprise needs without the overhead and complexity of a global giant.
In their messaging, DaSTOR emphasizes three key value propositions:
- Agility over Rigidity: They target organizations that have felt "locked-in" by the rigid terms and complex pricing of larger providers, positioning themselves as a flexible partner that adapts to the client’s growth trajectory.
- Hybrid-First Strategy: While many competitors push a "cloud-only" or "colo-only" narrative, DaSTOR positions itself as the ideal partner for the hybrid reality, acknowledging that most enterprises will maintain a mix of on-premise and cloud workloads for the foreseeable future.
- Regional Dominance: By focusing on specific geographic corridors, DaSTOR positions itself as a critical hub for regional business ecosystems, offering better latency and more accessible physical support than providers located in distant major hubs.
Their brand voice is professional, dependable, and partner-oriented. They differentiate from competitors by focusing less on "speeds and feeds" and more on business outcomes, such as risk mitigation, cost predictability, and operational efficiency. This resonates particularly well with CIOs and IT Directors who are tasked with balancing digital innovation with strict budgetary and security constraints.
Differentiation
The primary technical differentiator for DaSTOR is their integrated "ecosystem" approach, which seamlessly blends traditional colocation with managed cloud services and advanced disaster recovery. Unlike providers that offer these as siloed business units, DaSTOR’s architecture is designed for hybridity from the ground up. Their facilities are engineered for high-density deployments, supporting the power and cooling requirements of modern AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads that often exceed the capabilities of older regional sites.
Key product advantages include:
- Carrier-Neutral Connectivity: DaSTOR maintains a robust, diverse carrier ecosystem within their facilities, providing clients with extensive peering options and low-latency paths to major internet exchange points.
- Hybrid Cloud Enablement: Their platform facilitates direct, private connections to public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), allowing businesses to maintain sensitive data on-premise while leveraging the scalability of the public cloud.
- Resilient Disaster Recovery (DRaaS): DaSTOR offers sophisticated DR solutions that include automated failover and recovery testing, ensuring business continuity without the capital expenditure of building a secondary site.
- Security & Compliance: Their products are backed by rigorous certifications (SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, PCI DSS), making them a viable partner for highly regulated industries such as healthcare, finance, and legal services.
By modernizing critical infrastructure and implementing software-defined networking (SDN) capabilities, DaSTOR provides the technical agility of a cloud provider with the physical security and control of a private data center.
Ideal Customer Profile
The ideal DaSTOR customer is a mid-market to enterprise-level organization (100–5,000 employees) located in or operating near the Mid-Atlantic US (PA/DE/NJ/MD). They typically operate in highly regulated sectors like healthcare, finance, or legal services. This customer has outgrown basic server closets and requires a partner that offers more flexibility than "Big Box" wholesale providers. They value a "white-glove" relationship where they can speak directly to engineers and require a hybrid infrastructure that blends physical colocation with cloud connectivity. Budget-wise, they are looking for predictable OpEx spending between $2,000 and $50,000+ per month depending on footprint.
