Overview
Expereo is a leading global provider of managed network solutions, specializing in internet connectivity, SD-WAN, SASE, and enhanced internet performance services. Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Amsterdam, the company has evolved from a pioneer in local loop aggregation into a global authority on internet-centric networking. Expereo serves a significant portion of the Fortune 500, helping multinational corporations navigate the complexities of connecting diverse global offices, data centers, and cloud environments.
The company’s core mission is to simplify the management of global networks. As enterprises migrate away from traditional, expensive MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) architectures toward internet-first strategies, Expereo provides the necessary infrastructure and expertise to ensure these networks remain secure and performant. Their service footprint is one of the most extensive in the industry, spanning over 190 countries and partnering with over 3,000 local internet service providers (ISPs).
Expereo's offerings are categorized into four primary pillars:
- Global Internet: Sourcing and managing business-grade internet worldwide.
- SD-WAN & SASE: Managed services for software-defined networking and security.
- Enhanced Internet: Proprietary routing optimization to improve application performance.
- Professional Services: Global site surveys, technical design, and on-site installations.
With major hubs in Singapore, Dubai, and the United States, Expereo maintains a 24/7 global operations center, ensuring that multinational enterprises have a single point of contact and a unified service level agreement (SLA) regardless of where their offices are located.
Positioning
Expereo positions itself as the "Global Partner for the Internet-First Enterprise." Their strategic positioning is built on the transition from legacy private networks to the modern, cloud-centric internet. They target mid-to-large multinational enterprises that find it increasingly difficult to manage fragmented local ISP relationships and seek a consolidated, managed solution for their global footprint.
In terms of competitive positioning, Expereo occupies a unique space between traditional Tier-1 Telecommunications Carriers and pure-play SD-WAN technology vendors.
- Against Tier-1 Carriers: Expereo emphasizes its agility and "off-net" capabilities. While a traditional carrier might struggle to provide service in regions where they don't own fiber, Expereo’s provider-neutral model allows them to deliver connectivity anywhere.
- Against SD-WAN Vendors: Expereo positions itself as the "underlay expert." They argue that even the best SD-WAN software will fail on a poor-quality internet connection. By optimizing the underlying internet path, they enhance the value of the customer’s SD-WAN investment.
Their messaging focuses heavily on "simplifying the complex," "global reach," and "predictable performance." They position their brand as an essential orchestrator in a world where the internet has become the primary corporate network, appealing to CIOs and Network Architects who need to balance cost-efficiency with high-availability requirements.
Differentiation
Expereo’s product portfolio is anchored by its unique ability to transform the public internet into a high-performance enterprise-grade WAN. A primary differentiator is their Enhanced Internet technology, which utilizes a global network of "Cloud Acceleration" hubs. These hubs use proprietary BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) optimization to bypass congested peering points and route traffic over the fastest possible path, significantly reducing latency and packet loss for SaaS applications like Microsoft 365 and Salesforce.
Furthermore, Expereo offers a unified managed services layer for SD-WAN and SASE that remains technology-agnostic. While many vendors lock customers into a specific hardware stack, Expereo integrates with leading providers (such as Cisco, VMware, and Fortinet) while providing a single pane of glass for visibility through their "expereo.one" platform. This platform is a major technical advantage, offering deep insights into underlay performance, overlay health, and billing across thousands of global sites.
Their Global Internet approach also includes "last-mile" excellence, where they manage the entire lifecycle of internet sourcing, from feasibility and installation to 24/7 proactive monitoring. By combining this physical reach with digital optimization tools, Expereo provides a product experience that balances the cost-effectiveness of the internet with the reliability of private circuits.
