Accelerate Digital Innovation with NTT DATA Business Solutions
NTT Data is a global IT services leader providing digital transformation, consulting, and managed services to enterprises seeking long-term innovation and scale.
Overview
NTT Data, a core part of the NTT Group, is a top-tier global IT services provider headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. With a presence in over 50 countries and a workforce exceeding 190,000 professionals, the company serves as a critical engine for digital transformation (DX) for the Fortune Global 100 and public sector entities worldwide.
The vendor’s comprehensive service portfolio includes business and IT consulting, systems integration, managed services, and business process outsourcing. NTT Data has significantly expanded its global footprint through strategic acquisitions, most notably the $3 billion purchase of Dell’s IT services division and the more recent merger of its international business with NTT Ltd. to create a unified $30 billion IT services powerhouse.
NTT Data operates across several key domains:
- Digital Business: Helping organizations migrate to cloud-native architectures, implement AI/ML, and enhance customer experience (CX).
- Infrastructure & Connectivity: Providing robust networking, 5G, and data center solutions.
- Application Services: Managing and modernizing complex enterprise application suites like SAP, Oracle, and Salesforce.
- Cybersecurity: Offering global threat intelligence and managed security services.
The company is recognized for its ability to handle massive, complex projects—such as national payment systems and global supply chain networks—with a focus on reliability and long-term scalability. Their market presence is particularly strong in the Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Public Sector verticals.
Positioning
NTT Data positions itself as the "Premium Partner for Complex Transformation," carving out a space between the high-end strategy firms and the high-volume offshore delivery models. Their messaging emphasizes "Global Resilience" and "Local Agility," targeting C-suite executives who require a partner capable of executing large-scale digital shifts without sacrificing operational stability.
Compared to competitors like Accenture or Deloitte, NTT Data leads with its engineering pedigree and infrastructure ownership, positioning itself as a partner that actually "builds and runs" the technology rather than just advising on it. Against Indian heritage firms like TCS or Infosys, NTT Data differentiates through its massive R&D labs and its ability to provide high-touch, local consulting presence in North America and Europe.
Their brand positioning is increasingly focused on "Sustainability through Digital," aligning their technological capabilities with global ESG goals. This helps them appeal to modern enterprises that view digital transformation not just as an efficiency play, but as a requirement for ethical and sustainable growth. Their marketing highlights their status as a "Leader" in major analyst reports (Gartner, IDC, Everest Group), reinforcing a reputation for low-risk, high-quality delivery.
Differentiation
NTT Data’s product and service portfolio is characterized by its "Full-Stack" depth, spanning from physical undersea cables and data centers to high-level AI and business process outsourcing. A primary differentiator is their integration of NTT Group’s proprietary intellectual property, such as the IOWN (Innovative Optical and Wireless Network) initiative, which aims to revolutionize data transmission and power consumption at the infrastructure level.
Key technical advantages include:
- Edge-to-Cloud Integration: Leveraging their position as one of the world's largest data center operators to provide seamless hybrid-cloud orchestration.
- Industry-Specific IP: They offer deep vertical solutions, particularly in Healthcare (via their acquisition of Dell Services), Automotive (Smart Mobility), and Public Sector, where they manage mission-critical national infrastructures.
- Applied AI and Automation: Through their 'Center for Excellence' model, they provide proprietary automation frameworks that go beyond off-the-shelf tools to optimize legacy modernization.
- Sustainability Tech: They are leaders in developing green data centers and carbon-tracking software, integrating ESG metrics directly into their IT management platforms.
Their innovation strategy is focused on "Realizing Tomorrow," moving beyond incremental updates to provide clients with experimental technologies like quantum computing and digital twins of human anatomy for clinical trials.

Pricing Models
- Time & Materials (T&M): Common for discovery phases or agile development where the scope is evolving.
- Fixed-Price/Fixed-Scope: Typically used for well-defined migration projects or specific software implementations.
- Managed Services (Monthly Recurring): Subscription-based pricing for ongoing IT support, security monitoring, or cloud management, often based on seat count or resource consumption.
- Outcome-Based Pricing: For strategic transformations, NTT Data may enter agreements where a portion of the fee is tied to achieving specific business KPIs (e.g., cost savings or system uptime).
