Telesystem: Managed Cybersecurity, Networking & Cloud Solutions
Telesystem provides nationwide managed IT, cybersecurity, and communication solutions for multi-location enterprises seeking customized, high-reliability technology.
Overview
Telesystem is a leading provider of managed technology solutions, specializing in complex, multi-location networking, cybersecurity, and communication services. Headquartered in Northwood, Ohio, the company has evolved from a regional telecommunications provider into a national managed service provider (MSP) with a significant presence across the United States. Telesystem operates a robust, private high-capacity fiber network and maintains strategic partnerships that allow them to deliver services to almost any business address in the country.
The company’s core service offerings include Managed SD-WAN, Cybersecurity, Unified Communications (UCaaS), Managed WiFi, and Dedicated Internet Access (DIA). Telesystem primarily serves the mid-market and enterprise segments, with a particular focus on industries that require high uptime and stringent security, such as healthcare, retail, finance, and manufacturing.
Throughout its history, Telesystem has maintained a focus on reliability and technical excellence. They have invested heavily in their own core network infrastructure and diverse data center locations to ensure that they can offer industry-leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Their business focus is centered on simplifying the IT experience for their clients by acting as a single point of contact for the entire technology stack, from the physical circuit to the cloud application layer. In an era where digital transformation is a necessity, Telesystem positions itself as the strategic partner that manages the underlying complexity, allowing businesses to focus on their core growth objectives.
Positioning
Telesystem positions itself as the "Strategic Managed Services Partner" for organizations that have outgrown basic IT support but find the largest national carriers too impersonal or inflexible. Their market positioning strategy is built on the bridge between localized, high-touch service and nationwide enterprise-scale capabilities.
In their messaging, Telesystem emphasizes "Confidence" and "Reliability." They differentiate from competitors by highlighting their ability to design bespoke solutions rather than forcing customers into rigid product bundles. While competitors often lead with price or speed, Telesystem leads with "Solution Design" and "Implementation Excellence."
Their target market consists of IT directors and C-suite executives who are burdened by the management of multiple vendors and disparate systems. Telesystem’s brand positioning focuses on the "Power of One"—one partner, one bill, and one support number for a comprehensive technology stack. By positioning themselves as an extension of the client's internal IT team, they compete effectively against legacy telcos by offering superior agility and against smaller MSPs by offering a more robust national network and deeper bench of engineering talent. This "Goldilocks" positioning—large enough to scale, small enough to care—is the cornerstone of their competitive strategy.
Differentiation
The Telesystem product portfolio is engineered for high-availability and multi-site complexity. Their primary technical advantage lies in their Managed SD-WAN and Cybersecurity suite, which integrates diverse transport methods—including fiber, coax, and wireless—to ensure 100% uptime for mission-critical applications. Unlike many providers that offer a "one-size-fits-all" box, Telesystem’s SD-WAN is highly customizable, allowing for granular application prioritization and security policy enforcement at the edge.
In the communications space, their Hosted VoIP and Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) platforms are built on geo-redundant architectures, providing enterprise-grade voice quality with deep integration capabilities for CRM and productivity tools. A standout feature is their "Net-Neutral" approach to connectivity; they can deliver managed services over their own extensive fiber network or leverage wholesale agreements with over 300 partners to provide a single-bill, single-support experience for national footprints.
Furthermore, their cybersecurity stack is not a bolt-on service but is integrated into the core network fabric. This includes Managed Firewall, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), and Security Awareness Training, providing a holistic defense-in-depth strategy. By consolidating these disparate technologies into a single managed ecosystem, Telesystem reduces the "vendor sprawl" that often leads to security vulnerabilities and operational inefficiencies.
Ideal Customer Profile
The ideal Telesystem customer is a mid-market to enterprise-level organization (50 to 5,000+ employees) with multiple geographic locations. They typically operate in regulated industries like Healthcare, Finance, or Retail where uptime and security are non-negotiable. This customer has a lean IT team that values a 'single-point-of-contact' for their entire technology stack—from the fiber optic cable in the ground to the phone on the desk and the firewall protecting the data. They are likely moving away from managing a patchwork of local ISPs and legacy PBX systems in favor of a unified, managed cloud strategy.
Best Fit
Telesystem is a premier choice for mid-market and enterprise organizations that require a high-touch, consultative relationship rather than a 'self-service' commodity experience. They excel in multi-site retail or healthcare environments where maintaining connectivity across dozens or hundreds of locations is critical. Organizations looking to consolidate multiple vendors (ISP, VoIP, Security) into a single managed relationship will find Telesystem's 'white-glove' implementation and US-based 24/7 support a significant upgrade over larger, more rigid incumbent carriers. It is the ideal choice when internal IT teams are stretched thin and need a partner to act as an extension of their infrastructure department.
Offerings
Telesystem offers three primary categories of service:
- Connectivity: Dedicated Fiber Internet, Managed SD-WAN, and Wireless 5G Failover.
- Communication: UCaaS (Hosted Voice), SIP Trunking, and Integrated Contact Center (CCaaS) for customer-facing teams.
- Security & Managed IT: Managed Firewall, EDR, MFA, and comprehensive Network Monitoring. Services are often bundled into 'Managed Solutions' packages, where Telesystem takes full responsibility for hardware, software updates, and 24/7 monitoring, allowing the client's IT team to focus on strategic initiatives rather than maintenance.

Introduction
This guide provides a comprehensive evaluation of Telesystem, a leading nationwide provider of managed technology solutions. Telesystem specializes in bridging the gap between complex IT infrastructure and business productivity by offering managed cybersecurity, unified communications (UCaaS), and high-capacity network connectivity. Unlike massive, impersonal telecommunications giants, Telesystem differentiates itself through a 'customer-first' philosophy, providing tailored engineering and dedicated support. Buyers will learn how Telesystem’s integrated approach to SD-WAN, hosted voice, and managed security can simplify their vendor landscape, reduce downtime, and provide a scalable foundation for digital transformation. Pricing Models
Telesystem utilizes a predictable, Monthly Recurring Cost (MRC) model. Connectivity is typically priced based on bandwidth (Mbps/Gbps) and location-specific infrastructure. UCaaS is priced on a per-seat/license basis with different tiers for 'Basic' vs. 'Omnichannel' users. Managed security and SD-WAN are often priced per site or per device. Key cost drivers include the number of locations, required redundancy (e.g., secondary wireless failover), and the level of managed services (SOC monitoring vs. basic firewall). One-time installation fees (NRC) are standard but can often be amortized into the monthly contract for qualified enterprise agreements.
Technical Requirements
Technically, Telesystem is highly flexible. For UCaaS, a stable internet connection with adequate QoS (Quality of Service) settings is required; if Telesystem provides the circuit, this is managed end-to-end. For SD-WAN, customers must have at least one existing internet handoff, though Telesystem can provide the primary and secondary circuits. Hardware requirements (routers, IP phones, firewalls) are typically fulfilled by Telesystem as part of a Managed Service Provider (MSP) agreement, ensuring compatibility. Their solutions are browser-agnostic for management portals and support modern versions of Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android for softphone applications.
Business Requirements
To successfully partner with Telesystem, organizations should have a clear roadmap of their geographic footprint and bandwidth requirements. While Telesystem handles the heavy lifting of implementation, internal stakeholders must be prepared for a collaborative discovery phase to map out call flows (for UCaaS) and security policies (for SD-WAN). A designated project lead is recommended to interface with Telesystem’s dedicated project managers. From a change management perspective, users will need brief training on the new communication interfaces, and IT teams should be ready to transition from managing hardware to overseeing service-level agreements (SLAs).
Implementation Timeline
Implementation generally follows a 60-to-120-day cycle, depending on the complexity of the solution:
- Discovery & Design (Weeks 1-3): Detailed site audits, network architecture design, and hardware selection.
- Procurement & Provisioning (Weeks 4-8): Ordering of circuits (fiber/coax) and staging of hardware.
- Configuration & Testing (Weeks 8-10): Setting up UCaaS environments, SD-WAN rules, and porting phone numbers.
- Deployment & Training (Weeks 10-12): On-site or remote installation, user training sessions, and final cutover. Note: Timeline can be accelerated for cloud-only services or extended if new fiber construction is required.
Support Options
Telesystem is known for its 'Elite' support model. This includes 24/7/365 US-based technical support with rapid response times. Unlike many competitors, Telesystem assigns a dedicated Project Manager for every installation and provides a dedicated Account Manager for ongoing lifecycle needs. Customers have access to an online portal for ticketing and real-time circuit monitoring. For enterprise clients, custom support tiers are available that include proactive network reviews and quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to ensure the technology continues to meet evolving business needs.
Integration Requirements
Telesystem’s solutions are designed for ecosystem interoperability. Their UCaaS platform offers pre-built integrations with major CRM and productivity suites like Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, and HubSpot. For network management, they utilize industry-standard APIs that allow for monitoring integration with existing NOC tools. Their SD-WAN solutions (often powered by VeloCloud or Fortinet) integrate seamlessly with existing LAN environments. Because Telesystem acts as an aggregator, they can integrate diverse last-mile circuits into a unified managed network, providing a single pane of glass for monitoring disparate connections.
Security & Compliance
Security is a core pillar of Telesystem’s offering. They maintain a SOC 2 Type II compliant infrastructure, ensuring rigorous controls over data security and availability. Their solutions help customers meet industry-specific standards such as HIPAA (for healthcare) and PCI-DSS (for retail) through encrypted voice traffic and secure network segmentation. Telesystem provides advanced threat protection, including intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and web content filtering, ensuring that the network perimeter is defended against evolving cyber threats. Data residency is maintained within secure, geographically redundant US-based data centers.
