Wildix: Unified Communications & Browser-Based VoIP Solutions
Wildix provides browser-based Unified Communications and CaaS solutions for SMEs, using a WebRTC-first approach to drive sales and secure remote collaboration.
Overview
Wildix is a global technology company that specializes in Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) and Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) solutions. Founded in 2005 in Italy and now headquartered in the United States (Tallahassee, Florida) with a significant R&D presence in Europe, Wildix has established itself as a leading innovator for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and managed service providers.
The company’s core offering is a browser-based omnichannel communication system that integrates voice, video, messaging, and contact center capabilities into a single interface. Wildix serves a diverse global market, with a particularly strong footprint in Europe and a rapidly growing presence in North America. Their solutions are designed to address the complexities of modern "Smart Working" environments, providing secure, easy-to-use tools that do not require complex hardware or software installations.
Throughout its history, Wildix has focused on the intersection of communication and business growth. Rather than viewing telephony as a utility, Wildix positions its technology as a driver of digital transformation. The company’s growth has been fueled by its commitment to WebRTC technology, which enables seamless communication via web browsers, and its robust partner-centric business model. Today, Wildix supports thousands of businesses worldwide, helping them transition from legacy PBX systems to agile, cloud-based environments that prioritize security and user accessibility.
Positioning
Wildix positions itself as the "Sales-Oriented Communications" leader in the UCaaS market. Their messaging moves beyond the standard "productivity and collaboration" tropes used by competitors like Microsoft Teams or Zoom, instead focusing on how communication tools can directly increase a company's bottom line. By emphasizing features like website-integrated communication (Kite), Wildix targets businesses that view their phone and video systems as vital components of their sales and customer engagement funnels.
In terms of market segmentation, Wildix focuses squarely on the SME and mid-market sectors (typically 50 to 1,000 users). They position their platform as a more secure and specialized alternative to the "big tech" players. Their brand positioning highlights three core pillars:
- Security: Positioning their WebRTC-native, VPN-less architecture as the most secure way to support remote work.
- Simplicity: Highlighting the ease of use for both end-users (browser-based) and IT administrators (zero-touch deployment).
- Profitability: Messaging centered on how the Wildix ecosystem helps partners and end-customers grow their businesses through better engagement tools.
By avoiding the "commodity" trap of low-cost VoIP, Wildix differentiates itself as a premium, value-added solution that bridges the gap between traditional telephony and modern digital marketing.
Differentiation
The primary technical differentiator for Wildix is its "WebRTC-Native" architecture. While many UCaaS providers have added WebRTC support as an afterthought, Wildix was the first to build its entire stack on this protocol. This allows users to access the full suite of communications—voice, video, chat, and conferencing—directly through a web browser without the need for plugins, client installations, or VPNs. This significantly reduces the attack surface and simplifies the IT overhead for remote workforces.
Key product innovations include:
- Smart Working Focus: Features like "Kite" allow businesses to embed real-time communication tools (chat, voice, video) directly into their websites, transforming a standard UC tool into a lead generation and sales enablement engine.
- Security by Design: Wildix hardware and software are built with integrated encryption and a proprietary SBC (Session Border Controller), eliminating the need for external security appliances or complex firewall configurations.
- Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS): Wildix offers a unique lifecycle management program for their proprietary desk phones and headsets, ensuring customers always have access to the latest hardware via a recurring subscription model.
- Vertical Integration: The platform offers deep, native integrations with a wide array of CRMs, ERPs, and vertical-specific software (such as hospitality or healthcare systems), ensuring that communication data is bridged directly into business workflows rather than living in a silo.
Ideal Customer Profile
The ideal Wildix customer is a mid-to-large enterprise (50–5,000 users) that prioritizes digital transformation and sales growth.
- Industry Focus: Particularly strong in professional services, retail, healthcare, and high-tech manufacturing.
- Technical Maturity: Organizations that have embraced cloud-first strategies and are moving away from on-premises hardware.
- Geographic Footprint: Companies with multiple locations or a significant remote/hybrid workforce that require seamless, VPN-free connectivity.
- Budget: Mid-range to Enterprise; those who value ROI through increased sales conversion rather than just the lowest per-user telephony cost.
Best Fit
Wildix excels in three primary scenarios:
- Sales-Driven Organizations: It is specifically designed to be a 'sales-oriented' UCaaS, offering tools like 'Kite' that allow prospects to engage with sales teams directly from the website via video or voice.
- International Mid-Market Enterprises: Companies with distributed offices across different countries benefit from Wildix’s browser-based architecture, which eliminates the need for complex VPNs or hardware installations at every site.
- Managed Service Provider (MSP) Partnerships: For businesses that prefer a managed service model rather than direct vendor management, Wildix is sold exclusively through a partner network, ensuring local, high-touch support and customization.
- Web-Centric Environments: Organizations looking to move away from desk phones and desktop applications in favor of a 100% browser-based (WebRTC) workflow will find Wildix superior to legacy VoIP providers.
Offerings
Wildix offers a cloud-based PBX platform with several distinct software packages:
- Wildix Cloud: The core UCaaS offering, hosted by Wildix, providing 99.99% uptime and global availability.
- Wildix Hardware-as-a-Service: An optional program to lease desk phones, headsets, and media gateways with lifetime warranties.
- x-bees: A specialized 'Sales Intelligence' platform that sits on top of the UCaaS to provide AI-driven insights into sales conversations and CRM automation.

Use Cases
- Real Estate & High-Value Sales: A real estate firm uses Wildix Kite on their property listings. Prospective buyers click a 'Call Agent' button on the web page, instantly connecting to the agent's mobile app via video to walk through the property virtually.
- International Legal Firms: A firm with offices in London, New York, and Hong Kong uses Wildix to unite their staff on a single platform without VPNs, allowing for secure, encrypted document sharing and video calls across borders.
- Healthcare Clinics: Medical offices utilize the Wildix integration with their patient management system to instantly identify callers, view their records, and provide telehealth consultations via WIZYCONF.
- E-commerce Customer Support: A retail brand integrates Wildix with their helpdesk software, allowing support agents to move from a chat to a screen-sharing session instantly to help customers navigate the checkout process.
Pricing Models
Wildix utilizes a tiered subscription model, typically billed per user/per month:
- Basic Tier: Designed for common areas or back-office staff who only need essential telephony.
- Essential Tier: Includes the Collaboration interface, mobile apps, and basic UC features.
- Business Tier: Adds CRM integration, x-bees features, and advanced reporting.
- Premium Tier: Includes the full suite, including WIZYCONF and extensive 'Kite' capabilities for marketing.
- Cost Drivers: The main drivers are the number of users, the level of CRM integration required, and whether you opt for Wildix-branded hardware. Note that because Wildix is sold through partners, final pricing often includes the partner's managed services and support fees.
Technical Requirements
Wildix is highly accessible but requires specific network conditions:
- Browser: Latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari.
- Bandwidth: Approximately 100kbps per concurrent voice call; 2-4Mbps for HD video conferencing.
- Network: Low latency (<100ms) and low jitter are critical. Firewalls must allow outbound traffic on specific ports for WebRTC (primarily 443 and 10000-20000 UDP).
- Hardware: While software-focused, Wildix offers proprietary DECT headsets and Android-based desk phones for users who require physical devices.
- OS: Platform agnostic for the web client; mobile apps require recent iOS or Android versions.
Business Requirements
To successfully adopt Wildix, organizations should consider the following:
- Cultural Shift to WebRTC: Teams must be ready to transition from traditional desk phones or heavy desktop clients to a browser-based communication style.
- Partner Selection: Since Wildix is sold through partners, a key requirement is vetting a local Managed Service Provider (MSP) who understands your specific industry vertical.
- Change Management: While the UI is intuitive, training is required for the 'Kite' integration to ensure sales and marketing teams know how to handle live web-to-phone inquiries.
- Stakeholder Buy-in: Marketing and Sales leadership should be involved early, as Wildix impacts lead generation and customer engagement strategies, not just IT infrastructure.
Implementation Timeline
A typical Wildix implementation takes 4 to 10 weeks, depending on complexity:
- Discovery & Design (Week 1-2): Partner-led assessment of call flows, user personas, and integration needs.
- Environment Setup (Week 3): Configuration of the cloud PBX, user provisioning, and security settings.
- Integration & Testing (Week 4-6): Connecting CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.) and testing the 'Kite' web interface.
- Migration/Porting (Week 6-8): Porting existing phone numbers from legacy carriers (this is often the longest lead-time item).
- Training & Go-Live (Week 9-10): User training sessions and final cutover. Timeline varies based on the number of global sites.
Support Options
Support for Wildix is delivered via a two-tier model:
- Tier 1 & 2 (Partner-Led): Your local Wildix Gold or Platinum partner provides the primary support, including onsite assistance, custom configuration, and end-user training.

- Wildix Academy: A structured certification program for IT staff and partners to ensure high-level proficiency in the platform.

- TAPI & URL Pop: Support for legacy Windows applications and web-based 'screen pops' for incoming calls.
